Apropos Quote: The most formidable weapon against errors of every kind is reason. - Thomas Paine

UPDATED June 24, 2011  Millionaire businessman Johnson won the GOP nomination for the Senate representing Wisconsin. He won teh Wisconsin Senate election after spending some $9 million of his own money. Well it looks like he got his money back. The plastics company (PACUR LLC) he founded paid Johnson $10 million in deferred compensation. Very susicisou. PACUR has found a cretaive way of bypassing campaign finance laws. Well done Wisocnisn. You elected yet another crook.

Read all the dirty details here.

Ron Johnson the US Senate seat for Wisconsin against Democrat Russ Feingold.  Recent Ron Johnson quotes:

  • " ... the climate for business investment is far more certain in communist China then it is in the U.S. here,” Johnson said.
  • In a recent meeting with the editorial board of the Wausau Daily Herald, Johnson refused to suggest any actual programs to cut:

Editor: ”What areas would you look at then to reduce spending?”

Johnson: Well again, I’m not going to get in the game of picking out individual items… I’m not gonna

Editor: No, I think that helps voters to sort of decide, you know, because anyone can say, “And we ought to cut spending.” But the more specific I think the more helpful it is.
  • Asked what innovative ideas he might push in office, [Wisconsin Republican Ron] Johnson didn't talk of tax reform or private Social Security accounts, or of anything a conventional senator might do.

Instead, he committed himself to a "re-education of America" and talked about how expectations of government help are spinning wildly out of control, creating “a culture of dependency" that has little appreciation for what it takes for individuals and businesses to thrive.
Now if a progressive said anything like "re-education of America" there would be Bachmann like cries of "re-education camps" all over the media. What gives?

Johnson's extreme business-first, the-people-last approach to the world was on display in his decision to testify against a state child abuse protection bill in January. Why would anyone have a problem with legislation that would eliminate the statute of limitations for civil actions related to child abuse? Well, Johnson wasn't happy with the provision that included corporations. Johnson's first concern wasn't the victims of abuse, but how it would affect businesses. He testified, "I think it is extremely important to consider the economic havoc." Johnson proposes massive federal spending cuts, but he refuses to identify which programs he would cut: "I'm not going to get in the game here and, you know, start naming specific things to be attacked about, quite honestly." And if you want some good old-fashioned hypocrisy to go with his extreme, out-of-the-mainstream policy positions, how about this: Johnson has campaigned against subsidies for businesses, but he has used prison labor at his factories, with the state picking up the health care costs of the prisoners.

Oh and watch the video for Johnson's jobs plan. Sound familiar?
