Governor Christy's administration, through administrative blunders lost $400 million in potential federal funding for education, and now he has cancelled a transit project worth billions of dollars and 6,000 jobs. And New Jersey may have to repay about $300 million in federal funding already received for the project.
Officials have said the tunnel would create 6,000 construction jobs and add at least 40,000 new jobs after it is completed. If Christie were to divert money to the state transportation fund, that could also create jobs, depending on the projects.
