Want to spend less at the grocery store so you have more money for bills or play? You don't have to eat crap, just because you're on the unemployed-uber-budget! Check out the yummy No Job Survivor Frugal Food Recipes!

Yes, our mood is affected by the food we eat. And, some foods can really help you feel better when your unemployed spirit is low.

Wikipedia defines comfort food to be a variety of familiar, simple foods that are usually home-cooked or eaten at informal restaurants.

Not to be confused with Survivor Mood Food, Survivor Comfort Food is the immediate gratification stuff -- the stuff that'll make you close your eyes, feel all warm inside and maybe even make you moan a bit. But, as you know, after devouring comfort food, the feeling doesn't last that long and probably won't be that good for your mood in the long run.

But, we're a society that thrives on instant gratification, so here goes!  Take a look at our Survivor Comfort Food, or post one yourself!

A great opportunity to End Overeating

Salmon

Feeling low, like you're headin' downstream? Think upstream with Salmon!

Salmon is rich in 3 key mood-elevator nutrients: Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, and Vitamin D.

Vitamins B6 and B12 are natural at lifting mood and energy. Vitamin D provides high levels of serotonin, a key neurotransmitter that influences mood.

Salmon is also an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, is high in protein, and is low in calories and saturated fats.

Thinkin' you can't afford Salmon on your unemployed budget? Think again.

There are many brands that sell high quality, inexpensive canned salmon. Try Whole Foods brand 365, water-packed.

Have a great Mood-Food-Salmon recipe to share, post it here. Or if it's a Frugal Food recipe, post it here. And check the frugal SImple Salmon Cakes here.

Rinse and dry fresh salmon filets

Place them on your favorite baking pan

To make the pan non-stick, rub a very thin layer of oil on the bottom of the pan.

Mix:

This topping might seem silly, but it's easy and makes the fish extremely creamy and flavorful.

    • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
    • 2 tablespoons (1/8 cup) hearty dijon mustard
    • 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
    • Spread the mixture on top of the filets
    • Bake at 375 for 15 minutes
