March 25, 2010, Senate Republicans are throwing a tantrum by invoking a little-known rule that has the workday ending at 2pm. The retaliation comes on the heels of Sunday’s passage of the controversial health care reform bill.
Instead of working while America is the biggest financial crisis since the great depression, they've decided to work a short day, then pack up and go home.
More importantly, this little rule states that when the Senate is not in session, no other committees can meet. The disruption caused meetings on police training in Afghanistan, Western forest fires, as well as a meeting on judicial nominees among others to be postponed or canceled.
Hmm, perhaps we should cut their allowance... or give them a permanent time-out.
Workers in BMW's auto plants in Germany make twice as much as US workers in BMW plants who make $15 an hour. Oh and by the way German workers get 35 days of vacation AND decent healthcare.
