Despite the popularity with the people of extending the Bush Tax Cuts for those under $250,000 income per year and letting them expire for millionaires, Congress (all republicans and many Democrats) favor extending or even making permanent the Bush Tax Cuts. Ideology aside, could it be they are merely acting in their own economic self interest? If the Tax cuts are extended, those earning over $1million will GAIN over $100,000 a year. If the Democratic bill is passed millionaires will ONLY get about $6000 a year extra.
According to Opensecrets.org the average wealth of the Senator and Congress is in the millions.
Could it be Congress is really just looking after itself as usual?
