August 19, 2010 As new jobless rates climb and more people fall into abject poverty at no fault of their own, the Great Recession isn't getting any better. It's clear that the Republicans want the economy to be at its worst for the November election, and the Democrats are doing what Democrats do, letting the GOP have a stronger voice -- plus, much like most Republicans, they're bought and sold by banks, other corporations and special interests.
Take a look at the June Senate jobs bill vote. Who are our elected officials keeping the economy from growing, and taking away the safety net you paid in for all of your working life?
Below is the list.
NoJobSurvivor asks that if one or more of your elected officials are on this list, call them and give them hell. Now! You can find their contact info here. Tell them this no-brainer: Republicans still think the Bush tax cuts are doin' a hell of a job -- but in reality, every dollar of their tax cuts creates only .32 (cents) of stimulus, but every dollar spent on unemployment benefits, creates over $1.60 of stimulus! Tell your elected officials, including the President: It's NOT Rocket Science!
ALL 41 REPUBLICAN Senators
and these 12 Democrats:
Evan Bayh (IN)
Mark Begich (AK)
Russ Feingold (WI) [although he voted no because he wanted a stronger bill to support the unemployed]
Herb Kohl (WI)
Mary Landrieu (LA)
Joe Lieberman (CT)
Claire McCaskill (MO)
Robert Menendez (NJ)
Ben Nelson (NE)
Bill Nelson (FL)
Mark Pryor (AR)
Jim Webb (VA)
Thanks to Bill Scher at OurFuture.org for providing this list; check out his additional info and closer look at the jobs bill.
Good luck and let YOUR voice be heard!
Workers in BMW's auto plants in Germany make twice as much as US workers in BMW plants who make $15 an hour. Oh and by the way German workers get 35 days of vacation AND decent healthcare.
