Now it's time to grease the wheels and ace the thank-you letter! Here are a few tips for writing to seal the deal:
1. Send one no later than 24 hours after the interview. This shows you're motivated, on-time and on-the-ball.
2. Emphasize that you're the perfect fit for the job. List reasons why you are the ideal candidate--be specific about your experience skills as to how it relates to the job tasks and the tone of the company/organization.
3. Think they may have a doubt about a certain aspect of your skill-set? Address it now. Be confident and enthusiastic.
4. Stiff competition? Let them know you can go beyond the call of duty. REMEMBER: their main goal is to hire someone that makes them look good! Let them know in a subtle way that you're on that team.
5. Have a close friend who is good at proofreading and editing? Have them ready. Let them know before the interview that you will need them to quickly to take a brief, but serious look at the letter in the hours after you return from the interview. Sending it off with a typo or bad sentence construction could sink you!
And, GOOD LUCK.
Workers in BMW's auto plants in Germany make twice as much as US workers in BMW plants who make $15 an hour. Oh and by the way German workers get 35 days of vacation AND decent healthcare.
