Whether you are laid off, terminated for cause or resigned to avoid termination an unemployment claim can should be made. The first step to receiving unemployment is to apply for benefits. Your previous employer does not notify the state that you are no longer working.
In Florida the state agency that administers unemployment is the Agency for Workforce Innovation. You may apply in person at any one of the five Workforce Central Florida offices or you can submit a claim online https://www2.myflorida.com/fluid or by telephone at 800-204-2418. Once you have made an unemployment claim the state will determine if you are eligible to receive unemployment benefits....
