The first time you hear about a business card resume, it can sound like a gimmick, and you should know better than to waste valuable job search time pursuing gimmicks. That said, business cards are an accepted sales tool the world over, and for a job hunter they're so much less intrusive than carrying around a wad of resumes under your arm.If you want to try a business card resume, you must consider the severely limited space available to you and use that space wisely.

Job loss is a devastating experience. It’s normal to feel a sense of failure, embarrassment and shame. What will my friends think? What will my family think? Fortunately, job loss no longer carries a negative stigma as it may have in the past.

It may help to know that you are not alone. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 13.9 million people were unemployed as of July representing 9.1% of the workforce. In Illinois, July’s unemployment rate was 9.5% representing 627,762 people.

With the unemployment rate in Philadelphia and the country continuing to hover in the 9% range, it's obvious that there is so much competition out there for the jobs that are available.  So whether you are in Philly or any other city in the country, we all know that getting your resume seen by the right people is the key to getting an interview and thus getting a job. Whether this is handing your resume to someone at a job fair, submitting your resume online to one of the job sites, emailing or mailing your resume in response to an ad you saw in the paper or even handing your resume to a friend to submit to someone in their network - your resume is your first (and maybe only) critical chance to impress.  So it has to be professional, top quality and visually appealing.

Workers in BMW's auto plants in Germany make twice as much as US workers in BMW plants who make $15 an hour. Oh and by the way German workers get 35 days of vacation AND decent healthcare.
