New UI Claims Graph, New and Continuing with Moving Averages to January 2012UPDATED February 3, 2012

New Claims for  Unemployment Benefits dropped to their lowest level since 2008. The previous weeks new and continuing claims have been revised upwards. Continuing claims also dropped.

The number of new applications for Unemployment Insurance dropped by 12,000 to 367,000 new applications from the previous week's revised figure 0f 379,000, in the week ending 28 January 2012, the US Department of Labor  reported Thursday.

U3 and U6 unemployment rates to January 2012UPDATED February 3, 2012  The economy created a moderate number of jobs in January. both the U3 and U6 unemployment rates dropped to the lowest they have been since early 2009. Still, if the pace of job growth is maintained, unemployment rates won't return to pre-recession levels until after 2016!

The number of unemployed decreased  in December the government reported today. The  U-3  unemployment dropped to 8.3% in January. The  U-6  unemployment rate  dropped to 15.1%. The US economy added 243,000 jobs last month. Total U-3 Unemployment moved down to 12.8 million persons.

The 99%, the Non-Ceo Employment Sector, Got a nice Pay Rise in December

Real Average Earning December 2011January 20, 2012

Hourly AND Weekly earnings rose in December. Real average weekly earnings fell 1.1 percent, seasonally adjusted, from November 2010 to November 2011.

Real average hourly earnings for all employees rose 0.2 percent from November to December, seasonally adjusted,  U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

This change stems from a 0.2 percent increase in average hourly earnings, while the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) remained unchanged.

unemployed workers who receive unemployment compensation do more to find a job than those who never receive benefits. December 14, 2011 Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed legislation authored by Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.) that would reduce the maximum number of weeks of unemployment insurance benefits that the federal government provides to jobless workers from 73 weeks to 33 weeks.
