Our pals at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) provide great ideas for saving energy (and money) and saving the planet. Why do we love NRDC? As Jack Black says, "It's kick-ass because they sue the crap out of b-holes. And I support it."
Well said, Jack.
Now, here are a few tips on saving computer energy from NRDC:
- Set Sleep Mode.
- Get Rid of the Screen Saver, "sleep" instead.
- Shut off the Monitor - monitors are power hungry especially older glass CRTs. Is it time for a newer LCD monitor?
- Plug Into a Smarter Power Strip - it will protect your computer from surges and brownouts AND shutdown all those blinking lights.
